I'm there all day Friday. There's a 'cook off' with James Nathan on Friday night which will be great fun.
I'll mostly be wandering around talking to suppliers ... and hopefully be able to make an announcement regarding restaurant plans too !

Sounds great what a great prospect a cook off between the 2 masterchefs!!! Please report so those of us unable to go can learn what went on.
ReplyDeleteWanted to comment on your blog a while back, but there was no 'comment' facility! Well done on winning Masterchef - me and my six year old son were rooting for you! I live in Exeter, so may just pop along for a nosey - good luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Mat. I too wanted to send belated congratulations on your magnificent achievement in winning this years Masterchef. We were rooting for you pretty much throughout. I was a quarter finalist with James Nathan in 2008 (2007 really!) and aim to catch up with him on Friday, and watch you both in action. He's a great guy if you havent met him so you should have fun and suspect it will be good to get feedback on his last 12 months or so as a MC champ. Well done again mate. Andy Exmouth
ReplyDeleteSee you tomorrow Andy ! and thanks
ReplyDeleteWell done Mat,I was also rooting from you right from the start, because I believe in your ethos and also been diving in the UK for good while now..(ps great article in DIVE btw) wish we could have made the cook off, but look forward to hearing all about it!
ReplyDeleteHey Mat,

ReplyDeleteGreat to meet you last week. As I suspected even nicer in person than on telly. Thanks for being generous with your time as well. Congrats on excellent performance in the cook off. Not the winning because its a bit of fun but on how well you handled it. I suppose after some of the things you did in MC finals not much is going to mpahse you but these things must be nerve wracking? You and james did really well. On which note if you get a minute would you mind sending e mail address to me at [email protected]
Thanks again Andy (exmouth)
Hi Mat,
ReplyDeleteGreat win at Masterchef 09. We are 2 kiwi's living in Australia, and watched your talent from the beginning. Now there is some tension in our household, as we would like to know where you grew up in NZ, as I am from Wellington and my husband is an Aucklander. Please help!
Loved your rabbit dish and again, well done.
Cheers, Sandy

P.S. How about a kiwi favourite .... whitebait on your menu?
Hi Sandy ... sorry ... Auckland here (Devonport!) but did spend a couple of years in Maoribank. I miss whitebaiting on Devonport wharf ... nothing like it here I've found yet
ReplyDeleteHi Mat, oh well ... just another win for my hubby whom I call JAFA (Just Another Fabulous Aucklander...).
ReplyDeleteCheers, Sandy
Hi Matt, Aucklander here and full of pride for you and your life in N.Z Would love your prize winning desert recipe with blackberry sauce but unfortunately have not been able to find it on the web. Any help would be appreciated from you or any of your readers.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for the future
